Hello, I'm Kylie. I work on festivals and in event design and management. This is a collection of things I like, either made by me or by clever people I've found on the internets.

I am pretty much obsessed with Slanted Mansion. This shot is from Luci Everett’s work/living space.

After three weeks away in San Francisco and New York, I’m back in Melbourne.
I could go on forever about what we did, what we saw, where we went, what I loved, but what I really want to say is how incredibly inspiring, nourishing, relaxing, rejuvenating and fun the whole trip was. I can’t remember the last time I was that un-stressed, happy and healthy. So rather than dwell on what happened there, I want to harness this in a more ongoing way. Here are some thoughts:
I did an incredible art class at 3rd Ward in Brooklyn by Christine Garvey on collage and mixed media. Things that I’ve been quietly playing around with for a while, and forming ideas in my head, that I now feel incredibly inspired to create. And through visiting some absolutely amazing exhibitions (as well as some bad ones) recently, I’ve remembered how much I love to create things, and how fulfilling and stress relieving it is. There will be much more of it in my life from now.
Travelling and spending time with my fella: more of this please. To be honest it was a real struggle pulling the cash together for this trip. International airfares, three weeks accommodation, day to day expenses and wanting to be able to buy clothes, souvenirs and treats spontaneously on an arts worker’s wage is not easy. But the pay off from those months of scrimping and saving at home was so incredibly worth it at the destination. So I’m pledging to myself there will be more travels both far and away. Fingers crossed for Japan in 2013, but also day trips to regional galleries, catching the train somewhere I haven’t been before, farmer’s markets, nurseries, and taking the time to discover this still relatively new city and state where I’m now based.
And finally, this blog. After a month of not posting anything, and three weeks without even signing in to Tumblr, I have a bit of perspective on what I’ve been doing here. Somehow this blog got quite formal in it’s output - set posts about set topics that I stressed over finding or creating content for. I don’t even know how it got to this point as it certainly wasn’t my intention in the beginning. I started this as a way to play around with ideas and images, as a kind of look book of what I was experiencing and enjoying in both design and in life. So from now on expect this to be a lot more relaxed in posts and content. I may continue the Lovely Sundays series because it’s my favourite. But it probably won’t come out every week. If there’s something you enjoy seeing or reading here, please message me as I’d love to hear your thoughts. But I’m excited about taking this back into a more logical direction for me, which is, funnily enough, a more scattered one.
